Four patriots gathered to learn of history and marksmanship this weekend.   Targets were perforated, true tales of bravery and fortitude were told, a new rifleman minted, and a new Red Hat awarded.

The weather was as perfect as could be, though slightly chilly, and a little windy. We proceeded through steady hold factors, six steps of firing a shot, NPoA, Rifleman's Cadence, Rifleman's Bubble, seated, and standing positions, and finally 1 AQT on Saturday.  At lunch we retreated into the clubhouse for a break from the wind and the telling of the first strike of the match.  Great questions from the shooters!

That evening after the shoot, Aurelian was grilled by myself, The Wolfhound and Rockhead, and after many more than 20 questions, and perhaps a bead or two of perspiration, was awarded the Red Hat he'd so thoroughly earned. Huzzah!

Sunday, back on the line with an opening Red Coat, and significant improvement on the tallies.  We worked through AQTs, and the around the clock drill before lunch and the second strike of the match, quite well told by OldDominionIron.  Again, great questions from the shooters!

After lunch, back to the firing line for AQTs, Natural Point of  Oreo and Revenge of the Oreo wherein Oreos exploded and I was happy to award Oreos to the father-son team that attended. Well done gentlemen!

And finally, the last Red Coat of the weekend was posted at 2:30 Sunday afternoon and cleared!  Darren received a well earned Virginia State patch for that feat of marksmanship.  I was delighted to be able to award him Rifleman as well, with score of 211, 221 and 214.  His son well earned the William Diamond patch, showing great progress through the weekend, a teachable spirit and great attention to safety.
