Wow! Another awesome weekend of marksmanship and heritage in Sunland! We had twelve shooters on the line, made up of a good mix of newbies and AS veterans, including a couple of Riflemen who did a great job of 7th-stepping.

Mike, who shot his Rifleman score last month, came back with his band-mates, James and Dan, in tow. Right from the start, both were shooting solid groupings and only improved as the day went along. I may not be clairvoyant, but something tells me that there will be a Rifleman patch in your near future. O0

Brandon (Chinny33), our Orange Hat in disguise, invited out all of his employees... three of whom decided to take the challenge. A special call-out for Christy who, at the end of the first day, scored in the 170s on her first AQT. Methinks we need to get a rifle back in that girl's hands!  :---

On Sunday, four shooters returned to spend Resurrection Sunday celebrating liberty and heritage. Dawn, Marc, Phil and Jon all returned with that Rifleman gleam in their eye and their minds focused with sights on the target. Sunday also saw a plethora of instructors, but the shooters weren't the least bit intimidated by the two-to-one ratio.

Everyone saw significant improvement as we pushed through the AQT grind. Even a few of the instructors had a chance to get down in the dirt. It was great to see Dawn own a 100yd Redcoat target with Mr. Pete's M1 Garand. By the end of the day, Phil got a feel for that North Bridge water as he scored a 210 to become California's newest Rifleman. CONGRATULATIONS! ^:)^

Thanks again to everyone who came out. I'll be looking forward to seeing you all again at another event. CLICK HERE (http://appleseedinfo.org/smf/index.php?topic=28801.msg216608#msg216608) to jump down to my photos.

Another great Appleseed weekend.. with great instructors and fellow shooters !! very well done.... I'll be back again, probably with a .22 rather than a pesky .223 AR..... as it is with many things in life "it's journey, not the destination" that counts the most.

Best regards   Jon Tronowsky

Thanks go out to the Angeles Shooting Range for their continued support of Appleseed.

I first want to mention that all who were on the roster showed up. There was one registered shooter that transfered to June's event because of a personal issue. But no no shows!!! Great job shooters. Many of the shooters were for Saturday only due to the Resurrection Day festivities but it was a nice turnout.

Brandon, Thanks for coming out and bringing Irene, Christy, and Lenee. It was good to see you on the line again. As JA said great job seventh stepping!

Ed, Mike, James, Dan, you missed a very quiet second day of Appleseeding. The LEOs that were out on Saturday did not return and we had no noise but for the occasional report and clang of steel from the main range. It was almost eerie. I know you will all return for another weekend of honouring our Founding Fathers. It was a pleasure working with and meeting you all.

Jon... It was good to see that you are persisting on the journey. Nice to see you out at Angeles again at another Appleseed.

Dawn... It was so nice to meet you. Looking forward to the next time. Great job with that M1! ^5 That smile says it all. I can't hardly wait for the pictures that FD took.

Phil.... Congratulations on your 210 score. First Appleseed too. You are a terrific student.

Marc... You were improving all day Sunday. You will get it next time for sure.

Foppish Dandy and GoneJohnny. It was a pleasure working with you both. MrPete and Justin, Glad you could make it out for Sunday.

A hearty thank you and congratulations to the fine California's who showed on these two fine days, despite it being Easter weekend - that a Rifleman doesn't always get to pick when and where perseverance might need be applied.

The sounds of the LAPD getting in some range time next to us served as a wonderful serenade to our instruction and lunchtime stories. Interesting point of note is that, despite a few shooters being taken by surprise at the initial sounds of two dozen men offering the entirety of their magazines downrange in rapid succession - by the middle of the day these sounds had become common and intertwined to our story. As the day progressed, reports from near only prompted shooters to move in a little closer during instruction, turkey neck a little more for our stories and realize a little more about the Rifleman's Bubble while on the line.

This weekend also proved a great example of our 7th-Step in action. Ed brought Phil (who later score his patch). Mike (already a RM) brought Daniel and James. Brandon brought the girls from his restaurant. One brought one, one brought TWO and ONE brought THREE! That's six on our line this Easter weekend due to waking Americans spreading the word and personally dragging people to the lines WITH them! Good show!  O0

Shooter Jon is making wonderful progress on his AR, while shooter Mark is so close to his score that we sometimes wish we had an entire extra day just for QD-AQT's!

As Sunday found most of our line back at home with their families, those who did make it back found themselves in an auspicious opportunity - being surrounded by Instructors for pretty much an entire day of ball-and-dummy. Some moments the pace was slow, where other were quick... But every shot being fired by the numbers in a very deliberate Rifleman's Cadence... those target downrange never stood a chance.

Congratulations to Phil for scoring an even 210 and prompting a little Easter Sunday baptism of his own. And a special shout out to Dawn for her milestones this weekend: Having never fired a shot from a rifle before one Appleseed prior, she was able to qualify at 100-yards by the end of Sunday with an absolute BOOM-STICK (more commonly known as MrPete's M1Garand).  ^:)^

It also warms my heart to know that, after our shooters had to reluctantly call it a day and retire to their family meals - the entirety of our Sunday Instructors snapped to the occasion of a ready line to hone their own sets of perishable skills - confirming that this cadre of individuals indeed know very well what they are about.

Hope to see all of you soon!
