Get out to the range this winter!!!!  Keep those skills sharp.  I've started this match over at Surplus Rifle to commemorate the heroic defense of Finland against an overwhelming communist invasion by dedicated riflemen.  In particular the name Simo Häyhä stands out and is well worth the read and look up on Wiki.  All you need is a Mosin Nagant and some surplus ball which are both widely available and affordable.

SR is a friendly forum where you can discuss and learn about the quirks of shooting and collecting military surplus arms from all nations.  Very knowledgable and helpful folks over there, many are Appleseeders as well (or should be*@ could use some recruiting!).

Sounds like a great way to keep your skills sharp over the winter.  This is MN, we can hack it!

If you'll look at the targets, the x ring is aprx 1 MOA and the 10 ring 2 MOA, quite challenging indeed laying in the snow with a Russian or Finnish iron sighted Mosin Nagant.  A clean target would be at about the absolute limit of the best mosin and Rifleman with surplus ammo.  Get on out and give it a whirl.
