The June 16 and 17 shoot at Byers was a well attended and enjoyable Father's Day weekend shoot with a great group of shooters. With 14 shooters, 5 instructors, and a whole lot of sunshine, Saturday was hot (emphasis) and the typical Byers hurricane-like winds held off until the afternoon. The shooters were engaged and attentive to the instruction and we moved quickly through the major points of instruction with a dose of empassioned history and KD over lunch. The high temperatures and lack of shade definitely took a physical toll on everyone (BrassBucket and her extra passenger most of all) so we finished the day ahead of schedule to leave some fuel in the tank for Sunday.

On Sunday, 12 shooters returned and a few headed out early for Father's Day celebrations, but the remaining shooters powered through well into the afternoon. With review of the points of instruction and some more history under their belts, the shooters improved dramatically over the start of the weekend. At the end of the day, two Riflemen were made. The two young patriots pushed through to the end and are an example of what is right with America today.  TheDud and Mr. Aufbau led the line to the finish and wrapped up the weekend before the typical Eastern Plains storms rolled in. Our host, Colorado Rifle Club, were gracious enough to allow the use of one of their ranges for the full weekend and we are grateful for the opportunity to reinvigorate the spirit of rifle marksmanship at their facility.

Weekend Summary: 14 shooters, 2 Riflemen, instructors from 3 states, 1 pregnant lady, 1 shade tent lost to the winds.
"The rifle itself has no moral stature, since it has no will of its own. Naturally, it may be used by evil men for evil purposes, but there are more good men than evil, and while the latter cannot be persuaded to the path of righteousness by propaganda, they can certainly be corrected by good men with rifles."

Great weekend, and an excellent report. It was awesome to work with Appleseeders from the southern rectangular state. Helping Engineer shooting bring the Florida fistbump to Colorado made it that much better. Huzzah!
"Crackheads hustle for straight days to get a rock. No sleep or food. You ever work that hard for something? Don't get outworked by a crackhead."

Thank you to all of the instructors!  As the father of the two "Young Patriots" and one of the Riflemen It was a great way to spend Father's Day.  At the end of the day on Sunday one of the other attendees brought out his M1 to shoot a Red Coat and let some others try it out as well, Thank You!  Also thank you for helping me with my issue with the AR.  Sorry about the shade tent, darn wind.
