So last year I went in and gave the history to a group of 7th graders at my wife's school. That AAR is here

I got to go back again this year, and do it all over again. However better yet I was invited to give the history to another school. :--- Today I was lucky enough to give the history to 80 7th and 8th grade students at one of the local schools. Sadly due to scheduling I had to do it all in one day, however the teachers said an afternoon had never gone by so fast. They gave me from noon till 2 to tell the story, so I got in all three strikes, and DOM as well as some time for question and answer. I took the flag set with me and was also able to give a brief description of each. It was a great oportunity and they would like to me to come back next year. O0 I also made the request that if the knew anyone else who would like me to come in to please pass to them my e-mail. It was funny when some of the 8th graders were complaining to the 7th grade teacher how come she didn't tell them any of this stuff last year. >:D
While it isn't an Appleseed, and I didn't get to teach anyone to shoot, the history is getting out there, and the all important message that goes with it. Kids that we may have never been able to put on a firing line, I got to challenge with the history and heritage. For those that have teachers in their families, or are friends with teachers don't be afraid to mention this. It was amazing how happy they were to have me in today, having never meet me or heard the story, they were starving for anyone willing to come in and present something the kids had never heard. Remember at the heart of AS is the story and while the marksmanship plays a big role it is also the hook to get people to hear the history. It is that heritage that is key to saving this ship. ~~:)

That's a great idea! What a great way to get through to our future generations. I know when I was in middle school and high school a few years back, we never learned about the events of April 19. In fact, the entire American Revolution unit was a week or less!

Sounds like that went really well, Tim! Thanks for the AAR. O0
Good work here!
At a school here we made the Appleseed Project a .5 credit extra-curricular course students are taking.

Go to the bottom of the thread to download the lessons if you think you might try this sort of thing.
Alot of our heritage was lost in the schools, I think its only appropriate we advance there if we can. Again I say bravo Dryfire!

Awesome! Shooting or not, you had a chance to spread the message, or part of it - if you must, and doing so to our youth is fantastic, doing so to a big crowd great, doing so to a big crowd of kids AWESOME!
