Title: AAR: Mobile, AL October 29-30, 2016
Post by: cadman on November 01, 2016, 09:43:43 AM
What a great weekend.

To start, the weather couldn't have been better.   . . . did I mention it was dry both days?

All instructors arrived early and all shooters were early or on time.

After the welcome, we jumped right in with the First Strike and plowed ahead all day.  Most everyone had some rifle issues; the most common was related to the sling, and as always we worked our way through those.  The shooters were learning as we dealt with difficulties so we learned and overcame the issues.

One of the best things was to hear others say, "I'd never heard about that" or "I never knew that" as they learned more about marksmanship.

We even had a history "buff".

To all those that attended, keep on with your journey.  You've got a great start.  You'll be quite pleased as you learn more about your marksmanship and heritage.  Perhaps you will be most pleased as you learn more about yourself and what you can do and accomplish.

Hurrah!

Here are some coming Appleseeds in the region:
     11/26-27          Hurlburt Field, FL
     11/26-27          Shreveport, LA
     12/3-4              Pensacola, FL
     12/10-11          Lottie, LA
     3/25-26 2017   Talladega, AL
     4/22-23 2017   Columbiana, AL

Pictures will follow as soon as I get them off our cameras.

I attended this weekend's Seed in Mobile, and as usual had a good time, learned new things about myself and being a better Rifleman.
It was also my youngest son's first AS and he had a lot of fun and learned an immense amount new knowledge, he bettered himself as a shooter, learned some history and made some new acquaintances.

I'd like to give a huge shout out for the IITs, Instructor and Shoot Boss, they did a wonderful job.
Bob, Wayne, John, Callie and Don, thanks again for y'alls work and enthusiasm.
The instruction was first rate, the history lessons told with feeling and above all in a safe environment.

Had a great group of people out there on the line, I think everyone came away a better shooter.

This was my third AS, my third Rifleman patch and I've finally taken a Orange Hat for IIT.
I hope that I can conduct myself to the degree that I've witnessed from all the other AS crews.
I want to share my love for shooting and shooting accurately, for this country and the freedoms/liberties we have and the sacrifices made to garner them for us.
Pray that we never need fight for them again.

I'll start the picture show off.

That Orange Hat looks mighty nice! Thank you, Sir, for stepping up. The Coast will benefit from your enthusiasm and knowledge.

Yes, I remember that target.
The young man Eli (13yrs) shot that group right at the start.
He was shooting a Savage bolt action with diopter globe sights. He is a 4H target shooter, so it wasn't surprising.
The fact that he didn't shoot a RM was a surprise to me.
I asked him why that was and he said he was tired and wobbly.
