Title: SACRAMENTO, CA AUG 17-18 AFTER ACTION REPORT
Post by: NorCal22Gal on August 21, 2013, 12:16:42 AM
Can Sacramento Appleseeds get any better????

Weather was on the toasty side and humid on Sunday.

We had 10 Americans come out and learn some marksmanship and history this weekend.

This was a group of students that drank not sipped from the fire hose of knowledge we turned on after the safety briefing.  The groups for the most part began shrinking immediately and the others put the pieces in place to shrink theirs.

Returning Appleseeders Mark and his daughter Cassie started with a slight advantage but the others quickly caught up.  It was great to watch the 5 teens we had on the line show the determination to learn and learn well.

We stopped for lunch and the telling of the 3 Strikes.  Great job done by the story tellers....

After lunch it was back to the line to finish learning and to put it all to use on the AQT.  The heat was taking its toll and no rifleman scores were to be had on Saturday.  Good job by all though.

Sunday was overcast, hot and humid.  A slight breeze would come up every once in a while to start to cool us off.

A request had been made to spend a bit more time on seated, so we went through the review and spent a little extra time on seated....the results showed...groups in seated began to tighten up nicely.

We stopped for lunch and the Dangerous Old Men and Determined Dangerous Dames.

Back at the firing line we finished up a couple of reviews and started in on the first AQT.  It was apparent that the "software download and installation" from the day before was beginning to work well.  Scores were good.

One young man proved he knew what he was about...Josh scored a 210!!! And was properly doused with "the waters of the North Bridge" that on a toasty day like we had felt pretty good according to Josh! Well done.

Mark proved he's putting it together also...Score of 204.  (Cassie, you were missed on Sunday) There were scores in the 170's and 180's, great job.  Keep practicing everyone and you'll make it.

Duncan cleared the red coat Saturday night.  Awesome job!!

Hope to see all of you at a future Appleseed with more friends and family with you.

Thank you all for staying and helping us clean up at the end of the day on Sunday, it was very much appreciated.

To my instructors...you were as always awesome...it was great to come down and see you all again.

See ya all next month.

These may be a little slow to load, especially on lower bandwidth internet connections...
  so, please be patient.

Thanks to all of you again for coming out to join us for our Appleseed weekend. I was so happy to see everyone's enthusiasm and willingness to put the methods we're teaching, to work for you. It takes great determination (and time) to pull the pieces together, but you did remarkably well, and amazingly so, considering that HEAT. It was sincerely a pleasure to be in your company!!

I want to thank Donna, too, for contributing LOTS of awesome pictures to this month's gallery! You have an "eye" for an excellent shot, Donna! We have plenty of "Blue Hats" for volunteers who wish to join our Appleseed family and help out with taking pictures, doing check ins, passing out targets and general moral support. (Hint! Hint! :cool2: )  That goes for the rest of you, too!

And (at the risk of sounding like I'm at "The Oscars,") I want to finish by saying a big thank you to my fellow Instructors. I learn so much from you and greatly enjoy our time together!!

See you back at the range soon!!
Ducky/Linda

Another outstanding Appleseed for the history books made possible by all who attended! Congrats to Josh for persevering and achieving his goal of 210 despite the heat! Huzzah! A big thank you to Eaglescouter and NorCal22Gal for making this shoot possible, to the fantastic Sac instructors, to all the shooters who attended and to Ducky, Eaglescouter and Donna for documenting this great weekend with the fantastic pictures!

That's a great pic of Joe's Garand, with the muzzle blast and the .30-06 empty in flight!
