This past weekend, 11 Patriots got off the couch, got off their phones, and showed up for some solid marksmanship instruction and great storytelling - could not have asked for a better group of students!

The weather coming into the weekend started off as doubtful, but remained cool & breezy, if not humid, throughout the first day.  The morning Redcoats told us how much work needed to be done (and there was a good measure, to be certain).  The balance of the morning was spent focusing on the fundamentals - a solid shooting position via well-executed Stead Hold Factors, the six steps to firing a successful shot, making adjustments via IMC, and NPOA.  Lunch on Saturday saw Monkey begin the story of April 19th by setting the scene via the First Strike of the Match.  The afternoon brought instruction in transitions, sitting position, and standing, culminating in 2 AQTs.  Saturday afternoon's Redcoat showed marked improvement over the morning's events.

Day 2 started with cooler, albeit more humid weather.  The morning was spent by The Wolfhound and JL completing the story of April 19th, along with Known Distance instruction and a discussion of how to self-diagnose accuracy problems ("Talking Targets").  The afternoon started off very productive, completing several AQTs.  Unfortunately, the weather didn't hold and what started as a quick sprinkle turned into a torrential downpour in a matter of minutes.  While we tried to push through it, the range quickly transformed into a lake and became unusable.  That didn't seem to dampen spirits, as everybody walked away from the event very satisfied and happy for the experience.

Of the 11 that arrived this weekend, Ian showed outstanding marksmanship skill this weekend, earning scores of 217 (after dropping half of stage 3 due to a malfunction), 241 and 243.  Well done!

This is a GREAT pic!  I don't know who told the funny just before this was snapped, but it captures quite a bit of joy in what seems to be rather miserable conditions.
