What a special shoot we had this weekend at Meeker Sportsman Center in Marion, Ohio. We had 19 motivated shooters show up ready to hit the line Saturday morning.  After the welcome and the safety briefing, rifles were brought to the line and the Saturday morning Red Coat was shot.  This showed we had some work to do.  Beyond the 100 yard target, there was not much except for the 10 year old daughter of one of our Ohio Shoot Bosses.

She had clear the Saturday morning Red Coat and set an example for all the other shooters on the line.
Position instructions, the Six Steps and NPOA instructions followed and the morning flew by with everybody working hard. Sights were adjusted and we broke for lunch.

The first strike was presented and before we knew it we were back on the line working on seated, off hand. The second strike was presented at the afternoon bread and we returned to the line for a practice AQT and a live AQT.  On our very first AQT, Bill stepped up and showed that he was a man who knows what he is about shooting a 215.  The Saturday afternoon Red Coat was shot and great improvement was noted.  By Saturday afternoon, we had 13 of 19 at 100,  6 of 19 at 200 and 5 of 19 at 300.  We had 6 join Daniel Morgan rangers. The third strike was presented and the day came to a close.

Sunday dawned sunny, hot and muggy.  After carding the sights, and some NPOA work, we started the AQT grind.  We made one more Rifleman, Peter, with a 211.  KD was presented at lunch and a final AQT and the Sunday afternoon Red Coat was shot. We had strong improvement with 12 of 17 competent at 10 and 10 of 17 at 200.

We then brought centerfires to the line, zero's them and then spent the rest of the afternoon working at distance shooting steel targets at 200, 300 and 400 yards.  Many hits were registered and the day wrapped up with a thank you to the shooters and another call to action.

AAR's are better with pictures.  Shooters, feel free to give your self a login and post them up.

#1
What a great event.  Some Saturday pics.

It was really special as just about everybody who attended was part of a group.  We had just about everything you could think of on the line, including our version of Annie Oakley Pic-1.

We had buddies Pic-2 Sean and Donovan, the Dr's Bll and Dave Pic-3,  a big brother with his little brother Pic-4, and a husband and wife Pic-5 Vic and Cami.  We had an entire family at the  other end of the line that adopted our one walk-on.

Saturday was a lot of instructions as we can see as Chad is coaching up Sean Pic-6.  We actually ended the day with a real AQT and Bill stepped up as our first Rifleman  of the weekend.  We need somebody to post the picks of him getting his patch, I don't have any on my phone.

It was a wonderful group of people that came together at the Marion Appleseed. Everyone hung in there despite the warm temperatures, and remained safety conscious throughout the weekend. Corvette did his usual fine job as Shoot Boss; his history presentations inspire us all!

Looks like another great fun shoot for Ohio.

Congratulations to those who earned their patch and to all who persevered through the heat.
