The Boulder Rifle Club hosted this Appleseed shoot at Boulder CO, a handsome facility on high ground above the town, with gracious range reps who attended throughout. There was an 11th hour change of Shoot Boss due to family emergency, but the extraordinary seasoned crew handled all smoothly and professionally. Raises all around! It was hot, but not dangerous, low 90s on a gravel range bermed on 3 sides so minimal breeze but extremely dry. You know, sunscreen does not make up for the passage of 40yrs! Kaffiyeh is much better, and most of the instructors came equipped with those. IMPO effective sun protection works best if you don't look in any mirrors. Hard to drink enough water, and that lucky old sun provided crushing illumination all day long both days with only a minor rain shower to try rocking our balance.
But did Appleseeders let that happen? No! We had one shade shelter, everyone crowded under it, no arguments. Saturday was instruction day, Sunday went slower, more skill-building drills, Mr Stopwatch did not appear until the AQTs. Highest AQT score of the weekend was 195, but our best student shooter was fading by 3:00, even with Sunday competition games, so we wrapped up at 4pm.
This shoot, however, was remarkable for the good attitude and humor of the shooters - throughout. Crew was great, shooters liked the jokes: Shooter asked, Can I use two mags for the 13rd Redcoat? Answer: No, in your case, prep 13 mags with one round each! So guess what, no one asked the crew if they could break to use the toilets down the hill. Free citizens, exercising the individual liberty. We didn't crank out Riflemen, but with 100% newbies, we turned some cooks into something they only barely imagined, and the Redcoat scores proved it.

And you have wars you hardly win, and souls you hardly save.

I'll add that we had about 15 students signed up and actually all showed up Saturday.    On Sunday we had 80% return which is an outstanding return rate.   All pretty much newbies but all kept up well and learned a lot and progressed along nicely.

As always great to work with the crew,  we have worked tons of shoots together and now have a new Orange hat on the team,  glad to have you on the team Wayne.  Richard you were great to work with and I still think you need to get a radio show started, "Stories of April 19 1775, the birth of a new nation..... & now for the rest of the story!    Let's try and post to pics now.  Will thanks for forwarding the pics so promptly.

See you guy at the next one,

Looks like a good turnout and good facility for the event. Thanks to the Boulder Rifle Club for hosting.
