We had our second Appleseed event at the Tuscaloosa Gun Club.  Many thanks to Barry, the owner of the range, for graciously hosting us again.

The weather on Saturday was perfect:  warm but several degrees cooler than previous days, overcast skies, but no rain.

After the shooters arrived, we jumped right in to history with a telling of the First Strike and the massacre at Lexington Green.  We then went over safety procedures, and then brought rifles to the line.  We shot the first Redcoat target and then instruction began in earnest.  During lunch we heard about the battle at Concord's North Bridge during the Second Strike story.  After lunch instruction continued with how to diagnose your own Talking Targets, and how to use Inches-Minutes-Clicks to quickly make sight adjustments.  The Third Strike story was told about the long battle from Concord back to Boston.  After more instruction and drills, we packed it in for the day and said goodnight.

Sunday morning brought light rain, which luckily ended by the time we finished our reviews of Saturday's material.  We were blessed with sunshine and blue skies most of the day.  Rusty presented a stirring recital of an excerpt from Thomas Paine's "The American Crisis."  We continued instruction and drills, and we were ready for the AQT!  At lunch we gave a preview of Appleseed's "Known Distance" events, and then we buckled down to the AQT grind.  Two new Riflemen received their patches!  Alan shot an impressive 221 here at his first Appleseed event!  Courtney shot a 210 and was rewarded with a "baptism" with ice cold water from the North Bridge!  She later shot a 213.  Barry requalified with a 211!  All the shooters were doing quite well, and I'm confident that their patches are coming soon.  Remember persistence is the key!

Please to tell your family and friends about your Project Appleseed experience.  Let them know about the sacrifices our founding generation made that gave us the freedom we enjoy today.  Remember it is up to us to maintain that freedom for our posterity.  We hope to see you (and your family and friends) at another Appleseed soon!
