10 Shooters made it out to the first ever Winterseed hosted by the LeRoy Rifle and Pistol club. Saturday the balmy temperatures felt nice but were well above the what we needed for the shooters to earn the Winterseed Rifleman patch. However, the shooters persisted, learning/improving skills and enjoying history. The forecast for Sunday looked like we had a short window in the morning so we agreed to start early with an AQT to give the shooters an opportunity to earn the  Winterseed patch.

Sunday morning dawned crisp and cold with the temperature down in the hollow of the range at a brisk 28 degrees. After a quick registration and short safety briefing shooters posted AQT's. We were able to shoot 2 quick AQT's before the temperature climbed too high. After warming up and scoring targets 3 Winterseed patches were awarded (2 requalifications with 1 new Rifleman). Congratulations to Catherine, Henry, and Raymond.

Later in the day Keith scored a 210 earning his Rifleman patch. Congratulations Keith! There were also a couple more re-qualifications shot Sunday.

I enjoyed getting to know each of the shooters. Some had never fired a rifle and made amazing improvement during this event! The Instructors did a great job presenting their parts of the history and instruction and keeping the line safe. They are to be commended on a safe and fun shoot!

Thank you to the LeRoy Rifle and Pistol Club & Catherine, the range contact, for hosting this Winterseed and also to Charles Franklin for bringing some Revolutionary War era firearms to show during this event.

I would like to thank everyone who came out and shoot with us. Though we had a limited window to get in actual Winterseed scores everyone worked together and made it work. We still covered all the materials and histories. And did a little extra with the black powder rifle demonstration. Congratulations to all the shooters as everyone shot well and showed improvement. Congratulations to Henry, Raymond, Keith,for shooting rifleman and getting Winterseeds. Also Terry for rewqualifing.I would like to thank Tornado, Nightingale, and Olivia, couldn't ask for a better team to work with. Hope to work with all of you again soon. LeRoy Rifle and Pistol Clue love  its associatin with and having Illinois Appleseed Project coming to our club. Thank you from the club for all you do.
