A small group of determined Appleseed shooters and instructors arrived on chilly mornings down in the floodplain of the Escambia River for Revolution history and marksmanship training on this Super Bowl weekend. Guess word got out though, all credit to Pensacola's extraordinary Blue Hat Tim, and the line filled out. Two Riflemen requalified, and since space clearly was available, our instructors-in-training got to shoot. A lot. Better yet our neighbor-state Shoot Boss from Louisiana came with his son, another Blue Hat, who wow'd us all with his can-do attitude and AR-15 skill level. Because we had both time and space, we spent significant time on NPOA carded sights. People start understanding when we go at it in this businesslike manner, and it's the instructors' reward to see the lights go on. Several people were shooting the AQT the WWI way, with bolt actions. And Tim was sharpening up his riflery skills before deployment. People were serious, no fooling around.
Many thanks to our able crew. No one lays out the history like Engineer Shooting. Our special guest LawDog presented a great piece about the pivotal role played by Timothy Murphy. Okimic, Gunjunkie and Just Kim rounded out the line and the expertise.
Pensacola shoots tend to draw a lot of military shooters these days, from the Naval Air Station and nearby Hurburt Field. We're glad to see them and more than glad to see them return to Appleseed. Another splendid weekend, outdoors with rifles.
But you and all the kind of Christ are ignorant and brave,
And you have wars you hardly win, and souls you hardly save.

Thank you for a wonderful weekend. Being in the company of fellow Appleseeders never fails to elevate my spirits and bolster my confidence in our future. TDog and I enjoyed meeting/renewing acquaintances with each of you. We look forward to the day when you venture west to let us repay your kind hospitality. Until then, be safe.
