A small but enthusiastic group met at the Blue Trail Range for our July Ct Appleseed event. Six shooters with various degrees of ability arrived for our first real weekend of summer.

Saturday morning started cloudy with a small storm to let everyone know it was not to be a fair weather event. We stayed under cover for a bit, filling in the days before April 19 with the events of the time. Once the rain passed we had our am redcoat fired with the results being 3 100 yard, 2 200 yard and 1 300 yard shooters. Nice way to start!

The day progressed with marksmanship lessons and the lesson of 4/19. By the end of the day we had a Rifleman! Riley made it with some room to spare with a 217! Nice going! ^:)^

Our pm redcoat showed improvement throughout with 1 100, 1 200, 1 300 and 2 400 yard effective shooters. 2 shingles were hit with one shooter cleaning it! Huzzah!

Sunday was to be a trying event, due to the hot, humid weather as others have stated in events this weekend. Although down to 2 shooters we worked at a pace that wouldn't over tax the students or the IT crew. Many AQT's were fired along with drills and breaks to cool down in between. The slower pace kept everyone in the game and ended with Wes cutting it close with scores increasing up to a 205.  O0

The am redcoat had one 100 yard shooter, pm had one 200 and one 300 yard shooter. Again, a respectable performance from the students.

The shooters were a great group to work with, always safe, open to instruction and ready to improvise, adapt and overcome.

A big thank you goes to the Blue Trail Range management and staff for helping as much as could be to make this a successful shoot. The range provided some canopies that were quite literally life saving, as it turned out. The range was in great condition and we look forward to events there in the future.

BCodes did a great job as the IIT for the weekend, his help greatly appreciated.

A rifleman persists.

Between the rain on Saturday morning and the heat and humidity of the rest of the weekend, the shooters did a commendable job throughout the event.

Once the rain subsided, the shooters were ready to venture out from beneath the canopies and onto the firing line.

Congratulations to Riley on making Rifleman! Excellent work!

On Sunday, Wes fired a round that was louder than normal and resulted in smoke coming out from between the rifle's stock and receiver. The cause? An out-of-battery malfunction:

Thank you to the shooters who made the effort to come out and participate. Also, thank you to the folks at Blue Trail Range for providing us with the facility, and to TOMINCT for running a great event.
