Despite triple digit temperatures, we were joined by 19 amazing Americans this weekend in Piru! We had Gary come out with his wife Giselle and children Gianna and Dominic. They came to the Appleseed having heard of the event from the American Heritage Girls Organization with whom we had a previous Libertyseed. The children both did a great job at keeping safe and putting rounds on target! We were also joined by Jose and his three sons! Jose had been to one of the Sunland, CA Appelseeds and brought his family out to Piru for the Father's Day weekend event. Steve and Mark had both been to previous Appleseeds and showed to improve their scores. Keep it up guys! Joe and Earnest were also returning Appleseeders and showed they had learned from their previous Appleseed. Both qualified as Sharpshooters. A little more polishing those skills guys and you will have your Rifleman Patches! Garrett was the quiet giant at the end of the line. And although he couldn't join us Sunday, we hope to see him again. Ian turned up with his new Ruger take down 10-22 and his groups improved throughout the weekend. John and Linda arrived with their grandaughter and joined us in marksmanship and Heritage. Linda persisted and came away with a better knowledge of rifle marksmanship. I have a feeling we will be seeing her again. The Sheppards, a father and daughter team, joined us for Saturday only, but seemed to enjoy their time in Piru.

After the morning safety brief, we started in with our first Redcoat Target. ALthough there was a couple of nice groups, it looked like we had a bunch ready for some Marksmanship Instruction! After a sheet of squares, we were ready for lunch and History. The 3 strikes were presented and well received. It was back to another sheet of squares and having gotten good zero's, we completed our first AQT....no Riflemen! The final Redcoat showed improvement and with lots of water we made it through the 100+ degree day.

Sunday saw us missing a few folks, but whipped cream of the crop showed in good numbers and after a review on a sheet of squares, we were off to the AQT grind. Although we had no Riflemen Scores, there was plenty of improvement. The heat of the weekend took its toll and by the end of Sunday, most folks were thoroughly fried. We completed with a Redcoat and cleaned up for the day.

A special thank you to the instructors! Camljr, ASMinuteman, Twobeagles and F-stop all did a great job and stepped up when the call went out! Thanx again folks and we'll see you next time at Piru!
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom,go home from us.We ask not your counsels or arms.Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you.May your chains set lightly upon you and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen. Proverbs 22:3  -  A prudent person foresees danger and takes precautions. The simpleton goes blindly on and suffers the consequences.

"Far better is it to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even when checkered by failure... than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy, nor suffer much, because they live in a gray twilight that knows not victory or defeat".
