On this Patriot's Day weekend, we actually had two events: a 25 meter Appleseed event and a Liberty Seed, complete with Revolutionary War re-enactors! Tncolonel was the Shoot Boss for the weekend, and I ran the firing line on Saturday so he could concentrate on the Liberty Seed. It has been an unusually wet spring here in Tennessee, but we had a short reprieve on Saturday. The weather was clear and mild. Perfect weather for an Appleseed. A glorious day for liberty! The range was still pretty soggy, but nothing a little (well, actually a lot) of plastic couldn't alleviate. We had 15 shooters signed up, a couple of walk-ons and a couple of no-shows, so we ended up with 13 people on the line. Many of them were prior Appleseeders.

The instructor crew was at their usual professional best and the shooters really soaked up the instruction well. The Three Strikes of the Match really seemed to resonate with the shooters. At around 1:30, The Light Company marched down to the firing line from their encampment farther up the range and treated everyone to live-fire demonstration with their smooth-bore muskets and a little history of Revolutionary War weaponry and accouterments.

We were able to get a couple of AQTs in before the end of the day. Waylon and Cole, who were first-time Appleseeders earned their patch with a 225 and a 212, respectively. Jimmy and Jason both re-qualified, even though Jason cross-fired Jimmy's first AQT of the day. Sorry Jason, I couldn't resist!  :--- After the benediction, several of the shooters expressed an interest in getting a little more trigger time. We still had plenty of daylight left, so we stayed over with 5 shooters and shot two more AQTs. I'm really glad we did! Randall, who had been knocking at the door all day, but had been plagued by malfunctions pulled through with a 225!  ^:)^ That saved him from being plagued any further by Jimmy and Jason  ;D To cap the day off, Randall, Jason and Jimmy all asked for an Orange Hat ^:)^ Huzzah! Now it's time to get these guys to work!

Thanks to the shooters and the instructors who made the day a success!
