It was a pleasure to volunteer at this event. At 21 shooters this was the biggest event I've had the privilege to work. Shooting skill ranged from "never shot before" to "already got the patch and back for more". Saturday was a complete washout, we shot from under cover that day but about 1/3rd of the line was flooded anyway. On Sunday we moved out under the sun on a ground that was saturated from 2 weeks of almost steady rain. It was "steamy" to say the least. Our shooters ranged in age from ~9 up with Scouts from Troop 270 making up 9 of our shooters. Even with the challenges of the weather all participants were enthusiastic and most shot EVERY course of fire up to 1600 on Sunday evening.

Shea and Nate, two of our youngest shooters who shot strictly from prone ,shot a 224 and a 214 respectively. Great job! Once their bodies grow into their skill they should be able to earn their patches in short order.

Paul, one of the Scout leaders who was also shooting shot 204. We all hope to see him soon and hope he can make it out to our next event. He was literally 1 shot away from his patch.

We always say that a Rifleman persists!  Thanks to the shooters and instructors for braving the elements.  And thanks to the parents who brought their children out to learn about our History and Heritage.  Those investments will pay off.  I look forward to being there next time at the Tangipahoa Sheriff's Range.
