Huzzah, the Ohio 2015 Appleseed trail has started with our first shoot of the year at Clinton County Sportsman Club in Wilmington, Ohio.  We had five shooters brave the cold weather (Sat morning in the teens with flurries) to start their Appleseed experience.

The range was frozen solid in the morning so footing was easy.  However, when the sun came out and the temp edged over freezing, things got squishy.  Luckily one of the Instructors brought a firepit and some wood to burn plus some straw to but over the mud so it was not that bad.

Morning Redcoat led to instructions in the positions and before we knew it, it was lunch time and time for strike one. More instructions after lunch, second strike around the firepit at the afternoon break, followed by a practice and real AQT and the day ended with a solid third strike from Longrifle.

Sunday dawned sunny but cold.  Plus with the winds up from Saturday wind chills in the teens prevailed most of the morning.  Our shooters pressed on working hard on the skills.  Russ was our only rifleman with a 219, however Mike was knocking at the door.

The afternoon Red Coat was shot a little early so we could displace to the 200 yard range for some distance work with several centerfires including my M1.  One of our shooters, Brent, who will be leaving for the army in a couple weeks enjoyed the introduction to America's first semi-auto battle rifle.

The day closed with some final calls to action and warm good byes amongst all who attended.

Big Huzzah to all the attendees. Fewest errors making rifles safe I have ever seen. Thanks for making our job that much easier.

Do thou Great LIBERTY inspire our Souls- And make our Lives in thy Possession happy- Or, our Deaths glorious in thy just Defense.

"Before a standing army can rule, the people must be disarmed as they are in almost every kingdom in Europe. The supreme power in America cannot enforce unjust laws by the sword because the whole body of the people are armed"- Noah Webster A.D.1787

". . . They promised perpetual peace.
They swore, if we gave them our weapons,
that the wars of the tribes would cease.
But when we disarmed They sold us and
delivered us bound to our foe,
And the Gods of the Copybook Headings
said: "Stick to the Devil you know."
"The Gods of the Copybook Headings,". Rudyard Kipling A.D.1919

It appears we spent a good bit of time around the fire.
