The inaugural event at Logan's Ferry Sportsmen's Club was a Winterseed.  Range conditions tended to make the participants sympathetic for the redcoats who deployed at Lechmere Point on the morning of April 19, 1775.  But fourteen of the sixteen patriotic Americans who registered came out Saturday morning in spite of weather conditions.

Kudos to glock1911 for filling the line for this event, and for taking the initiative to relocate it from the originally scheduled lake, I mean range.

Logan's Ferry is a very shooting-oriented Club, with great facilities.  A couple of the board members were on the line with us through the weekend.  Student ages ranged from ten to mid-seventies, and all seemed attentive and eager to get under way on a wet and chilly Saturday morning.

The First and Second Strikes of the Match, fundamentals of the sling use and the prone position, Six Steps of Firing the Shot, and the Safety Briefing were all presented before we brought out the rifles.  Yes, we were stalling in hopes of better weather.  And we got it.  At least the rain stopped.

The students showed admirable enthusiasm in setting up their shooting positions, one end of the line in snow, and the other in a couple inches of water.  Spirits were generally good, and results were mixed on the first Redcoat, as the experience levels of the students varied widely.  After the Third Strike was presented, the second Redcoat showed general improvement in marksmanship.

Twelve of the students returned for Sunday, which was drier but also colder and windy.  AM snow flurries made this officially a Winterseed.  The students persevered through the day, once again showing improvement in marksmanship and interest in the history presentation.

Across the weekend three of the students cleared Redcoats and two earned Winterseed patches.  Congratulations to Ed (223) and Jack (222) for scoring well in "Valley Forge" weather conditions.  Also congratulations to our three Young Patriots, Nathan, Eric, and Justin, as well as our most senior student, Lewis, for persevering in some pretty dire weather conditions.

Here's hoping Project Appleseed will be invited back for future dates at this excellent range (and that the weather is better  @) )
"You can't teach Liberty by practicing tyranny." -  Mr. Happy

I hope to see all of you on the line again.  Hopefully in much better weather! ;D
Last evening, it occurred to me that when a defender of Liberty is called home, their load lands upon the shoulders of the defenders left behind. Just as the Founders did their duty for Liberty, every subsequent generation must continue their work lest Liberty perish. As there is no way for the remaining adults to take on the work of those that die, we must pass the ideals and duties on to the children. -PHenery
