It was a nice weekend for shooting and history at the Volusia County Gun and Hunt Club. With perfect Florida winter weather we were blessed with 13 patriots who showed up on the 13th of December to participate in marksmanship activities on Pistol Bay 13, no doubt in honor of the 13 Original Colonies. The freshly graded range was a bit moist but a few tarps helped keep most of the dirt at bay. Over the weekend the marksmanship improved and there were many smiles by the end of the weekend. We have one new Rifleman to welcome to the exalted company of Men Who Know What They Are About. Congratulations to Mike for repeatedly demonstrating great skill with his iron sighted AR-15 and shooting the qualifying score not once but three times! Close on his heels was Fabian who was heartbreakingly close but could not seem to get four good stages together on the same target on the same day. Next time for sure, Fabian. Thanks to everyone who came out and made for a great weekend shared by fellow patriots. And a special thanks to Neil, Tom, Janet, and Glenn for their great instruction, fellowship, and patient encouragement. Hopefully someone took photographs and will be willing to share.
