I think the above makes for an accurate description of what shooters had to deal with this weekend past. Although no snow fell while we were there this AS was the first official Winterseed for the season. The cold plus gusts that lifted mats and equipment from the line made for a difficult and trying event.

Saturday was started with 11 eager attendees and an equally ready IT crew to get the ball rolling. The am redcoat and following instruction ran up to lunchtime with some improvement in general. Heavyduty77 delivered the 1st strike at lunch, served by the club. We returned to the range and continued with POI's and trying to stay out of the wind.

It became cold, I mean with 20-30 mph varying conditions it started to take it's toll. The nearby rangehouse was visited frequently to take advantage if the heat inside. By 4pm the last and only AQT was fired along with the last redcoat. The group returned to the clubhouse for the 2nd and 3rd strikes and a recommendation to rest well for Sunday.

Sunday am started with 8 shooters and an improvement right off with the firing of the am redcoat. one 400, 2 200 and 3 100 yard shooters were determined to get better throughout the day and did so with some room to spare.  Early on John, who had good groups from the start but needed to work with his sling and cadence made our first rifleman of the day with a sizzling 239, followed by later AQT's in the 230's. Great job John!

By mid morning another shooter arrived along with Jay Haich, another CT instructor. More drills, fine tuning on an individual basis and reminders to previous instruction netted many shooters landing in the 190's, counting Dave with a 191, Preston in the mid 190's and Josh with a hot 207. This after his car being towed the night before and several rifle malfs. He is very close to say the least.

Our evening redcoat was fired with notable improvement seen. Three 400, 2 300 and 3 200 yard shooters walked away from the range Saturday evening. This thru the lower temps and varying winds during the day. Huzzah!

Our next rifleman were Dan and Brian. Dan, who struggled with sighting and rifle problems, made the cut with a 212. Brian who had become the recipient of crossfires during the day finally got one AQT fired without any and became our final  RM with a nice 220 score.

Altogether a great group of folks to receive instruction on marksmanship and  our American heritage. And, it could not have been done with out the persistence of our IT crew of Heavyduty77, steelhorse and Jay Haich. Having a great crew as this makes the most for the attendees and the SB running it.

NWCSA did a great job of hosting the event and we look forward to shoots there in 2015.

And last, but not least, Connecticut has a new RH instructor. Heavyduty77 did a grand job in his POI's thru the weekend and passed the final in flying colors. Pete has worked at many Ct events this year and we look forward to his help next year, Congratulations Pete!

Some pics were taken by those in attendance and we hope that some get posted soon. Respectfully submitted, Tominct.

Out with the old in with the NEW!
Congrats to Pete (Heavyduty77)!!!

If you are not part of the solution, then you are part of the problem.

Fred; Quoted (out of context) at an IBC on Battle Road 2011 "All it takes is a Red Hat and a Sharpie to run an Appleseed."
We ALL know this is not true and I would like to thank all the Hats, Admin and other volunteers that are involved in making an Appleseed Shoot happen.....
