Actually in Carson, NM...just down the road. ;) And 20 minutes from where BlueFeather and I live. :)

Finally, after 7 frustrating years...  %) of trying to work with the local LEO's, Forest Service and BLM @&) to secure a place to do Appleseed shoots, we finally got around that.  :~

A huge thanks to Greg and Pam Busick who chose to step up to offer part of their 27 acre ranch to help promote the mission!

Pam is owner of Pampered Pets and Greg makes lead melting pots on special machinery for cast bullets. O0

The new DAR Appleseed range is located in Carson, New Mexico. Named after Kit Carson famous guide and scout buried here in Taos.
This town was originally a Morman settlement founded in 1908.

Today, only 160 people now live in this remote high country town. The original school house still stands!
The area is full of trophy elk and attracts hunters from all over.

The range is easily located 30 minutes from the historic town of Taos and is but 15 minutes from the world famous Ojo Caliente Hot Springs.
We cleared out a parking area and Greg and Pam donated their full hookup RV for restroom facilities.

We are officially listed:

Here are some pics of the range from start to finish and a few pics of the area.
We now have the initial 25 yard area that will now hold 15 shooters.
Posts will be set at 25, 50, 75 and 100 yards for 22 KD, etc.
Me, Long Rifle and BlueFeather were involved in the range day and/or initial set up.

The range before we groomed the weeds. We can shoot to 200 yards as is.
The tires show a backstop with a whole ridge of rock behind.

Greg on the tractor grades out the area and after Long Rifle mows the worst of the 2 foot tall weeds.

The final product:

Greg and Long Rifle discussing the layout for the 100 yard rimfire KD and the location of the 200 yard targets for paper and steel.

Looking North from the range. The range is on South Carson Drive.
Just out of view is the PO (US Flag) and a small local grocery store (blue flag).

A telephoto from the firing line to the NE.
The range is nestled between the very tip of the extreme Southern San Juans and the Sangre de Cristo Mtns.
12, 350 foot Pueblo Pk. is hidden in the clouds of the summer monsoons.

A pic to the SE towards the Pecos Wilderness showing the beauty of Northern NM's high country of sage, cedar and pinon..

The first shoots for this year are to be in late Sept, early Oct and Nov. before the snow falls. ..:..
