We had another great mid-week event at Wears Valley Ranch! The folks at the ranch are very accommodating and very committed to Project Appleseed! Cokeguy is our "boots on the ground" there at the ranch, and he did his usual best in taking care of all the particulars there at the range before the shoot. Several of the ranch staff were on the line, including Mrs. Wood, one of the ranch founders.

We had several new shooters and some who were new to rifles, so we took things slow Wednesday. After the First Strike by Cokeguy and the first Red Coat target we spent the morning doing dry-fire and practice in the positions. We fired a 5 round sighter before breaking for lunch, and found that our practice was paying off. There were lots of really good groups! Overmountain Man told the Second Strike while shooters were finishing up their sandwiches. It was muggy in the afternoon, but the shooters kept at it. We shot 5 round groups and worked on zeroing the shooters. When their groups were consistently 6-8 MOA we started making sight adjustments and zeroing rifles. We took a mid-afternoon break for the Third Strike, fired an AQT and a second Red Coat as a little cloud burst blew in, giving us a little relief from the humidity. There were some respectable scores on the AQT and the afternoon Red Coats showed considerable improvement.

Thursday was much less humid and a little cooler, so we promptly got down to business while everyone was fresh. We spent the morning carding sights, doing NPOA drills, trigger control drills and generally reviewing everything we learned on Wednesday. We got in one AQT before lunch and Tncolonel and Overmountain Man told some Dangerous Old Men stories and we had a good discussion about liberty. The afternoon was dedicated to the AQT grind. On every AQT there were shooters scoring in the 170-200 point range. Mike, Jackie and Mrs. Wood were all knocking on the door of a Rifleman's score! Everyone on the line showed consistency and improvement. On the next-to-the-last AQT, Jackie scored a 211 and earned his Rifleman's Patch!

Liston Matthews of the Knoxville Gun Rights Examiner was on the line. Look for a link to his write-up here in the AAR. Tncolonel was the Shoot Boss and this was my 3rd SBIT event. His help on the line and his guidance on this event were very beneficial to me.

If anyone has pictures, feel free to post them here. Great job everyone! Looking forward to seeing you on the line again soon!
