Unbridled Liberty

We had two brand new shooters and three instructors turn out for our one-day KD event at the Lloyd Wildlife Management Area, hosted by the Northern KY Straight Shooters Association.

We started with a Redcoat target which indicated that we had a great opportunity for instruction and improvement.  Next came squares targets to practice Steady Hold Factors, Six Steps and NPOA.  Once we had groups shrunk down to a reasonable size, we moved on to IMC and sight corrections.  Next came KD instruction and then full size D targets at 100 and 200 yards.  We wrapped up with 200 yard and 343 yard steel.

Joe and Ethan, it was a pleasure meeting you both.  I saw tremendous improvement in your marksmanship in just the few hours we spent together.  If you keep practicing the fundamentals and then attend a regular Project Appleseed clinic, I believe that both of you are capable of shooting a Rifleman score on the AQT test.  Again, thank you both for coming.

Thanks to Andre, Hindsight and Boadicea for helping.  I always enjoy working with you.

An RWVA Instructor would be happy to come and speak to your club or group and present the Three Strikes.  We call these non-shooting events "Libertyseeds".  Here is the website for more information: www.libertyseed.org. You may use the site to request a Libertyseed event, join the RWVA or make a donation.

An Rx for all attendees:

Get a GI web sling here: http://www.appleseedstore.flyingcart.com/?p=detail&pid=10&cat_id=
Lots of dry fire practice, by the numbers, making sure to first go through your Steady Hold Factors.
Practice finding, shifting and verifying your NPOA.
Practice Inches Minutes and Clicks.
Please attend another Appleseed clinic and bring at least two new people with you.  If every 2013 Kentucky attendee returned and brought only two new people, and each of those new people brought only two more, and so on, by the 2016 election we will have had over 20,000 NEW people who have attended a Project Appleseed event in Kentucky!  Here is the 2013 Kentucky schedule:

Help Project Appleseed:
Promote Project Appleseed on your Facebook page.  Kentucky's page is: https://www.facebook.com/KentuckyRifleman
If you have shot a Rifleman score (210 points or greater on the AQT test), become an RWVA Instructor in Training (aka Orange Hat).  If you have not yet shot a Rifleman score, join Applecore (aka Blue Hats) and help at shoots with check in, range safety and other duties, or help behind the scenes with promotional efforts.  We will find a place for you if you volunteer!

A few ideas on how to help your community, state and nation:
First, start at home: Be a good spouse and parent. "Take good care of the children".  Make sure your household is prepared for natural disasters.
Then, get involved in your community: Be a good neighbor and watch out for each other. Become a block captain for your neighborhood. Build wheelchair ramps for the disabled, and meet other special needs in your community.  Attend school board and town council meetings, or better yet, run for a position!  Get involved in your local Community Emergency Response Team

Write letters and make phone calls about issues that concern you.  I have been informed by people in the know in Frankfort that when the the capitol switchboard gets 1 telephone call for or against a certain issue, they multiply that by 14,000!  That's about the same as the number of militia that turned out by April 20, 1775!  And this is for the little ol' state of Kentucky.  Imagine what multiplier they use when you call Washington, DC!  You can be an army of one simply by voicing your concerns and opinions to your lawmakers!

Andre

In the past, I've always enjoyed working at Crittenden, and this time was no different.  Good to meet and work with both Joe and Ethan; two shooters with teachable attitudes and, with a little work, future Rifleman!  Hope to see you both at Bethlehem in two weeks with the rest of your crew.  See this link for more details: http://www.appleseedusa.org/search-states-location.php?locationid=354

Also, for Ethan's mementos:

We had a great time and learned quite a bit at this clinic.  I know I am looking forward to attending another in the near future.  It was also great to have you guys work with Ethan and I and modifying the class so that we were able to get the most that we could from it.

Do you guys have any kind of certificates for taking these clinics?  I would love to have something to be able to share with friends!

Joe,

Of course, the ultimate certificate is an embroidered Rifleman patch!  The only paper document we have is a training certificate for Law Enforcement Officers.  As far as sharing with your friends, what you need is some of our trifold brochures.  Barry should be able to get you some.  He is hindsight on the forum.

I also have event flyers for each clinic, which I can email to you in PDF format.  Just PM me with your email address and tell me which events you want flyers for.  They are one-page black & white and suitable for copying and posting in gun shops, clubs, employee locker rooms, etc.
