Last weekend we held another Appleseed Event at the fabulous L.E. Duncans Rainbow Range and Gun Club in scenic Rainbow California.  The event featured a very nice and very receptive group of students out on the line just in time for the first weekend of So Cal summer weather.  That is to say, it was a trifle warm out in the sun!

Thanks to all who attended the event, as well as to all who showed up to volunteer.  Remember we are just simple Americans teaching other Americans about Marksmanship, History and Heritage.

A few highlights of the weekend:

James (RimfireJim) came out for a tune-up of his bolt-action skills, and managed to squeak-by his Rifleman's qualification with a high-score of 235.  Jim showed great consistency, shooting 6 AQTs with scores ranging between 227 and 235.  Sunday afternoon Jim also stepped up, accepting his Orange Hat, joining the ranks of So Cal Instructors for the RWVA.  Congratulations Jim!

Charlotte came out for her second event, bringing her son Titus on Saturday and Husband Steve on Sunday.  Charlotte settled in nicely on Saturday, steadily improving, and cleaning the afternoon's Red Coat target!  Yep, a perfect score!  Congratulations Charlotte!

John, Charles, Dennis and Diana all came along nicely, knocking on the door of qualification.  Unfortunately, heat and equipment failures brought them up short, but all vowed to return!

Titus and Luke were returning Luther Blanchard honorees, both making progress over the weekend.  Seth was our newest Luther Blanchard patch recipient, with the presentation handled by Instructor Chuck (hey, whats Up, Chuck?)

Our lunchtime history/heritage talks were quite spirited with good participation by the student group.  Lots of questions and discussion!  Thanks for being such a receptive and attentive group!

ErinsDad took some photos that I hope he will post shortly.

Again, thanks all for coming out last weekend.  Hope to see you again with your new 7th-stepped friends in tow!

To be ignorant of what occurred before you were born is to remain always a child.

Marcus Tullius Cicero

"Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan "press on" has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race"

Thanks everyone for a great Appleseed weekend!  Congratulations to all - everyone made progress this weekend! Hope to see everyone back again soon.

Jim's Patriotic fife solo was a fitting end to Sundays History presentation of Dangerous Old Men.  Thanks Jim for performing Yankee Doodle for all of us!
