Unbridled Liberty

21 shooters and several adult spectators gathered bright and early on a chilly Saturday morning to become better marksman and learn about their heritage and history.  Over half of the line were youth and I think almost everyone there was invited/brought by TWO previous attendees.  Talk about 7th Stepping!   O0

Due to a low instructor ratio things progressed very slowly and we barely got in one AQT by the time our day ended around 6:45.  But great, teachable attitudes abounded and great persistence was demonstrated.  The operative word for the day was patience.

The Memorial Volley at 4:00 was very emotional and inspiring for this SB.  Many redcoats were vanquished and Patriots were honored.  We had use of an old, tarnished brass ship's bell, which our young Designated Marksman, John, rang five times before the volley began, (for Paul Revere's 10:30 PM passing of the HMS Somerset), once after each volley, and six times at the end (to signal the 7:00 PM end of the fighting).  Well done young man!  For those interested, our 14th name was:

Michael Cable, Sgt. United States Army, Age 26, of Philpot, KY
Died March 27, 2013, Shinwar District, Afghanistan serving during Operation Enduring Freedom.

On Sunday, 12 shooters returned and although we lost one instructor, a Blue Hat arrived unexpectedly to stand in the gap.  With a higher instructor ratio, we got more accomplished and were able to get in four more red AQT's.

On the first AQT of the day, Jacob shot a 222!  On the last AQT of the day, his friend Nathan, through persistence and determination, came through with a 214!  HUZZAH!  Well done young men!

Special thanks to parents Tim & Yvonne, Jim, Lori, Nick and Curtis for taking good care of the children.  And thank you Andre, Boadicea and MOA Constrictor for stepping up and helping out.

I would be happy to come and speak to your club or group and present the Three Strikes.  We call these non-shooting events Libertyseeds.  Just PM me and we will set something up.

I have been informed by people in the know in Frankfort that when the the capitol switchboard gets 1 telephone call for or against a certain issue, they multiply that by 15,000!  That's about the same as the number of militia that turned out by April 20, 1775!  And this is for the little ol' state of Kentucky.  Imagine what multiplier they use when you call Washington, DC!  You can be an army of one simply by voicing your concerns and opinions to your lawmakers!

Everyone is invited to post here about your Appleseed experience.  Long live Liberty!

For Liberty, each Freeman Strives
As its a Gift of God
And for it willing yield their Lives
And Seal it with their Blood

Thrice happy they who thus resign
Into the peacefull Grave
Much better there, in Death Confin'd
Than a Surviving Slave

This Motto may adorn their Tombs,
(Let tyrants come and view)
"We rather seek these silent Rooms
Than live as Slaves to You"

It's always heart warming to see a full line of enthusiastic shooters - thanks to all who came!
Instruction was well received and it showed with targets speaking encouraging words.  While we certainly had our share of equipment issues, I don't recall that keeping anyone down and persistence prevailed.  Keep focused - persistence pays as illustrated by our two new riflemen!  To you, I shout out one more time - HUZZAH!!!   O0

What a great bunch of shooters this was!  We had great weather, too.  I could only come Saturday, wish I could have been there Sunday too. I had the pleasure of helping some ladies and kids new to shooting, it's always good to see people getting involved in shooting for the first time.

The memorial volley was incredibly powerful, and our young bell ringer did a great job.  When UL called out Isaac Davis' name, I about lost it.
