The Patriots Weekend Appleseed Event in Saratoga, New York was an exciting event for all hardy RIFLEMEN!!! A late Friday night storm left the range wet and muddy. But, on Saturday morning the RIFLEMEN flocked to Saratoga to stand shoulder to shoulder with their fellow countrymen just as their ancestors did in 1775. The rifle line was packed with family groups. Grandparents, parents, children, brothers, sisters, husbands, wives, children, friends and neighbors all gathered to share in their heritage.

R1sgx2 managed the instructor team of Spartan, sureshot, SMURF, Dude, Grumpy1, Karis-Wheel, MPH_VT, CAPshooter, and Nortatoga as they guided the eager students thru the Appleseed program. R1sgx2's instruction motivated the students to perform as true RIFLEMEN. Dude did a wonderful job of portraying the history in a way that truely inspired the students. The instructors worked the rifle line to polish the students into finished Riflemen and below shows the result of their work.

The sunny weather on Sunday helped to develop two new RIFLEMEN. Don L: with a 234 AQT and Laura with a 223 AQT.

We also had five RIFLEMEN re-qualify: Gunny (245), Don D. (242), Stu (224), Thomas (226), and Annie (218).

Three Patriots stood up to accept LIBERTY PATCHES: Gina, Madison and Bryant.

CONGRADULATIONS TO ALL!!!!!

59 individual shooters responded to the Mud at Saratoga. What a great weekend. Thank you all.
The weekend started with instructor Dude Friday night having not one but two flat tires....,,,,
Then Saturday morning bringing high winds, hail, sleet, snow and rain and cold whichadded to the great amount of mud on the ground.

But ya know what, everyone was so far into the rifleman bubble no one even noticed. There was mud every where, plenty for all to take home.

Many new Appleseeders were on the line. This is a good thing, I know they will return AND bring family and friends.

Thank you Saraspa Rod and Gun Club, INC.[/b] These people are very friendly to Appleseed, they never fail to open their doors to us. They close all their ranges to accomidate our program.

59 shooters, 10 instructors, several spectators, families and friends were everywhere. Smiles all around.
There is so much to talk about, Soon Annie will have the group photos up of both days. Annie with help from Smurf and MPH_VT were our picture takers for the weekend.

I couldn't think of a better place to spend this weekend then with these great people in Saratoga. We will be back here in September for the Anniv. Of Battles of Saratoga. I hear there will be more cannon fire....,,,,,

Also scoring Rifleman was Keith, Smurf's brother, sitting at the table after clean up he was scoring his targets and after confirming it scored a 229. Keith also a great job, you will be patched soon.

Thank you for the shooters and instructors for such a great weekend.

Please feel free to comment.

It is an honor to be on this list of American Patriots!
Spartan- a true mast at the art of marksmanship training. The VT contingent making the 2 hour plus drive down. And Sureshot and Grumpy1 both bring their daughters down to shoot on the line--[I can identify with that!]. Nortatoga - another expert on the art of rifle marksmanship. SMURF-a pleasure to watch him speak and how he handles the people. AND, going the extra many miles to make sure our vehicle limped home on a very questionable donut spare. Special congratulations to CAPshooter on attainging a CMP scholarship! Fantastic!
And Karis-Wheel-the teenage girl that isn't afraid to drop on the mat next to macho guys and point them in the right direction. If you have the opportunity to hear her call th eline, you will not soon forget it!

R!sgx2 - what else can you say?

I think with almost 50 the line, and the strong winds, Mark left every last bit of his voice at Sara-Spa!

It was awesome to see our new riflemen Laura, Don and Keith-- we all know the thrill of that 210 score! And watching Don's daughters encourage him on is simply wonderful! You see, they were Appleseeders before he was and brought him to an event!

The youth contingent was very well represented and a real pleasure to see. THEY are Appleseed's future as well as America's future.

Also great to see was the variety of ages and number of ladies on the line. Watch out guys, they are outshooting us more often than we care to admit!

Thanks to all for an awesome weekend, including a special cameo visit on Sunday afternoon by Mrs Dude, the one who enables me and Karis-Wheel freely leave on weekends to pursue the cause of Freedom.  ;)

That was one AWESOME Appleseed!!!
Thank you all for allowing me to be part of it.  As always the 1SG does and excellent job, recruiting shooters, planning and leading a quality event.  Despite the challeneges from weather and a very large crowd, his team of instructors and the shooters achieved some great marksmanship, history, safety, fun and committment to keep the ship afloat!!!  They even did the KD class and shot KD out to 200 yards!!  Great job!  did I mention it was a blast and everyone was smiles!!!
