Hi folks! So I have what I wanted to drag with me to an MN appleseed but under current market conditions I'll have to run what I have. So I have a canvas 1/2 shelter for ground cover, an old shooting jacket with shoulder and elbow pads, and a Marlin 81 tube feed bolt action 22lr. What do I need to bring so I can get the most out of a weekend?

A teachable attitude, coupled with a desire to improve.

Everything else is secondary in importance to this.

Some creature-comfort stuff:

A notebook & writing implement
folding chair
water; figure about 2 gallons for a full day outside
staple gun & staples
Your choice of rifle
rifle sling (USGI web sling preferred, see: http://store.rwvaappleseed.com/page11.html)
ammunition of the same type and lot # (~500 rounds recommended for the weekend)
sight adjustment tools
rifle maintenance items, such as lubricant, cleaning kit, and any spare parts that you may have.
Tools sufficient to disassemble and reassemble your rifle for cleaning, repair, or maintenance

Welcome Jack,

You will do fine!  I suggest as many friends as you can drag along!

One of my favorite parts of the program is it is run what ya brung.  As long as it is safe it is important to learn your rifle.

My high score is with a bolt so it is doable.  We have procedures for tube fed.

On www.appleseedinfo.org there are list of things to bring.
Ubder the "Appleseed" button "How to Prepare" from the drop down menu.

Don't get caught up in the I have to have..... fill in the blank.  You have the basics covered.  Come, Have FUN, bring more people when you came back.
Last evening, it occurred to me that when a defender of Liberty is called home, their load lands upon the shoulders of the defenders left behind. Just as the Founders did their duty for Liberty, every subsequent generation must continue their work lest Liberty perish. As there is no way for the remaining adults to take on the work of those that die, we must pass the ideals and duties on to the children. -PHenery

All these folks have given you great suggestions!

But there is one more thing - So obvious to most of us we forget to write it.

Friends!

A shared experience is a more memorable one - They also help you keep from falling asleep while driving home!

Welcome to the MN board!  Which shoot are you planning to attend?
