I am sure you enjoy them, but high fructose corn syrup and gratuitous carbohydrates will make you sick and fat. AND they will give you huge blood sugar fluctuations, which will dump you and make you tired, especially at an event.  Sugar is as addictive as cocaine. PM me if you want some recipes with cocao that are good for you, low carb and actually taste good.

I've had several requests about recipes, so I decided to make this a thread on my blog. I have an intro health/diet post and two recipes here to start with: bluefeathersoaps.blogspot.com

Shameless plug: Please follow the blog and also like me through the Facebook link to keep updated.  I plan on writing more about health and diet, post recipes and product development, so I hope to have something to interest you. ( plus I really want more followers. I hope I can make it worth your time!)

Thanks

That's what jeffdubya packed for his wife.
Good call, Jeff.  Now you're a husband/wife Rifleman team!

Instructors and attendees, don't be shy.  Reply away.  I just know you have something to say ... or are you going through chocolate withdrawals?

I'm sure all those who attended the Couer D Alene Ladyseed can say bonds of friendship were born out of this gathering.

What an inspiring group of women from all over our country  : )  !!  The instructors did a great job on the range as well as reminding us of our rich heritage.  An Inspiration.  Thank you

Trisha

There's so much to say! I am sitting in the Denver airport and am just sad to think that next time I get to see everyone again could be awhile from now! Thank you all, instructors and students for making me feel at home,  I hope to come back soon. I will add more thoughts later!

What a BLAST!  Gorgeous range, fantastic company, good shooting, all while focusing on our shared heritage.  It was an honor to join together with women from Idaho, Washington, Oregon, Montana, Wisconsin, and Ohio for this special Appleseed.  I met so many great people - participants and instructors alike - and really had fun.  I was so impressed by the number of Riflemen, and more so by the support everyone gave each other.  The cheers and tears and squeals and smiles were like none I have ever heard seen or heard at an Appleseed.  It was like being at home but with new friends and family.  Thank you for allowing me to be a part.  I hope to come back to Idaho some time again - Calamity, I think you'd love it.  Road trip!

I'll work on pictures sometime this week.  I have some big smiles to share from some young ladies who had a blast shooting an AR-15!
Thanks again, everyone!!!

Pro Libertate, you did a fine job documenting this event in pictures and a video or two.
We'll patiently wait for your picture post(s).

I know there were a couple more picture takers at the event.  Feel free to post them here.  We'll pull some of them and add to our Coeur d'Alene, ID Ladyseed - Oct 13, 2012 album

What an amazing weekend!! We had a great time with great ladies. Nikki and I want to thank all the instructors, IITs, and ACs who made this weekend possible. You truly blessed us with your knowledge, time, patience and encouragement. We enjoyed meeting every one of you and hope to meet again on the Appleseed trail. This weekend was soooo much more than improving our marksmanship. Thank you all again.

What a blast I had at the Coeur d'Alene Ladyseed!  I can honestly say, I can't think of a better way to have spent my weekend.  Making new friends has become a recurring theme at the shoots I've attended, and I feel so blessed to have found Project Appleseed.  I look forward to many, many more years of learning, instructing, and forging friendships!

And now, the moment you've all been waiting for... because after all,  :pics:

Oh, and don't go away-- there's more to come!  I'm leaving for California in a couple hours, and won't be back for a few days, but I'll post more pictures and videos when I return.

One of the shooters sent me a message via FB.  It brought tears to my eyes.  I've asked permission to share it on the forum if she wasn't ready to create an account.  She just messaged me this afternoon and said yes.

QuoteShawn,

There was talk of the C d'Alene Appleseed when I attended the Lewiston event [Ladyseed] back during the summer. At that time I indicated that I was going to be traveling home to Alabama during this weekend and wouldn't be able to attend. I ended up changing my mind and my plans so that I could attend the C d'Alene event. Of course, it was in part because I wanted to continue improving my marksmanship...work toward shooting rifleman. But that wasn't the whole of it. I had found patriotism and love of liberty, pure and simple, like I'd never experienced it before.

So I've been trying for a couple of days now to figure out what to say besides just 'thank you'. I want you to know what a profound effect Appleseed has had on my life. I know that you already know what you are doing is critical. It is obvious in your passionate dedication to Appleseed and to civic education. I want you to know that I now believe it is critical, as well. I want you to know that a large part of my change in perception is due to what I have experienced and learned at the two Appleseed events I have attended. And I want you to know that I'm not satisfied that just my own mind thinks differently now. I feel unsettled inside. If Americans as a whole thought like this again...what a country America could be again! I don't think I can sit back and watch and be silent anymore. This is something I need to share.

Well, at Fernan Rod and Gun Club this past weekend, I shot at rifleman standard and earned my patch for marksmanship. I am so grateful to all of the wonderful instructors who helped me to achieve this. Patriots in heart and action. Patient, dedicated, compassionate, and prepared to be strong, tough-minded, and self-sufficient. You all are the standards for what an American woman can and should be.

I'd like to say I stood up there to receive the patch with an overwhelming sense of excitement for this marksmanship accomplishment. I had practiced. I had concentrated on it. I had thought about...analyzed it... even when I wasn't at a range shooting the rifle. I was pleased and happy but not in a "wow, I did it!" sort of way. What was running through my mind when I went up...and all weekend long actually...wasn't as much the rifleman standard in marksmanship as the rifleman character. This concept had gotten into my heart and started dancing around and wouldn't let me be. I thought about it at the range in Lewiston, and then I took it home with me and thought about it some more. And it was foremost in my mind at Fernan.

What I hadn't put my finger on at the time but have come to realize over the last few days is that earning the patch felt more like a commencement. Not the completion of something but the beginning. I shot a rifleman score, but in my heart I knew I hadn't earned that patch yet. I felt a very strong sense of what I still need to do to truly earn it. And it does involve much more than marksmanship. I'm going to work on it. It's very important.

Again, thank you so much. These experiences have been invaluable. And my patch is my reminder that I have work to do...like a string around my finger. I look forward to seeing you at Appleseeds in the future.
