A Fall Appleseed in Las Vegas.

Temperatures dropped from 110 to the mid 90's.

Cooler weather is relative.

New and old faces gathered at the Clark County Shooting Park.

Twenty students, half of them under 18 assembled to share an journey into Rifle Marksmanship and their American Heritage.

Two and three generations of families were on the line.

It was satisfying to see families taking the time to pass on traditions and skills to the next generation.

To their Posterity.

As John Adams said

Posterity, you will never know how much it cost the present generation to preserve your freedom. I hope you will make good use of it. If you do not, I shall repent in heaven that ever I took half the pains to preserve it.

This would have brought a smile to his face.

The Fundamentals of Rifle Marksmanship were taught.

The Heritage was shared.

Groups shrunk.

Red Coats, Squares, AQT's were targeted by ever improving Rifle Fire.

And at the end of the day, One man stepped forward and demonstrated that he knew what he was about.

Bob (Forum name TBD) shot a 236 on a liberty volley style AQT in 2:30 seconds.

He learned and demonstrated the lesson that a rifleman shoots every round rapid fire. This was a first in Las Vegas where the score was higher than the elapsed time.

Any way you look at it, that's some fine (and fast) shooting.

The day ended with the traditional wrap up and the admonition to share the history and bring their friends when they return.

This was our last event the Clark Shooting Park this year as it is challenging to get a range for an entire weekend as the popularity of the range grows. But we will return in 2013.

Next month the Southern Nevada Appleseed tour travels to the Boulder Rifle and Pistol Club, where we will do it all over again
