Wonderful cool temperatures (for North Texas) greeted us on Saturday morning after a week long last hurrah (or is that Huzzah!) for summer.  With temperatures on Friday soaring to around 105 degrees, Saturday's 69 degree start was downright chilly and had us North Texas looking at maybe cracking out the winter wear.

Unfortunately the cooler temps did not translate into increased attendance. Nonetheless we started off the day on Saturday with 7 folks, including our host, Chris, who owns the range.  Chris is a master instructor in his own right and his business focuses around tactical defensive shooting.  He runs one of the most complete, most thoughtful, and most applicable series of courses for the CHL/CCH users.  He has provided his training to Appleseed instructors at a steep discount and embodies the best qualities of an instructor.  Nonetheless, it was no surprise he showed up to the line with a "tacticool" AR .22 variant.  Once we stripped that extraneous stuff off, and nixed his obviously broken optic (MOA adjustments were not resulting down range and it was obviously the optic was just defective), he started landing great groups, but his demands as range owner and his other two ranges being full use reduced his ability to devote his attention to the course.   I suspect however he's caught the bug and will be on the chase for the patch soon.

Our attendees included a Rifleman and his son, a previous attendee, and several new timers.  The low turnout provided us with the opportunity to run a fast line and we got to a Saturday best of 3 AQTs.  Unfortunately, no new Rifleman, but our existing Rifleman repeated with irons (he qualified on optics the first time).

Sunday we had 5 hardy folks plus our intrepid host.  We ended up shooting a North Texas best of another 11 AQTs.  At the end of the day we had a new Rifleman shine forth in Caleb, the son of our returning Rifleman and who's mother had also shot Rifleman at a previous Ladyseed.  Now the challenge falls to his younger sister to continue the family tradition.
