Weather: Saturday: 91*, clear, breezy.  Sunday: 94*, partly cloudy, breezy.  The forecast could have played a part in the two paid no-shows, but we did have a couple of walk-ons despite the predicted heat.  No weather related safety issues as we looked out for each other, took plenty of breaks, and drank a lot of water. The breeze and the low humidity kept the conditions bearable.

# Riflemen: New _1_ Re-qualify_0__

Good: There was a good diversity of students at this shoot; men and women - boys and girls.  Return Appleseeders and first timers - one who had never fired a rifle.  This was a student who started off with a Ruger 10/22 on Saturday and then shot an AR-15 during the KD portion on Sunday.  The student stated that they liked the AR better!

During the history lessons it was great to see the first-time Appleseeders and the kids get involved.  When the four questions were first posed, I was enthused that one of the return Appleseeders (a youth) chimed in right away with what they had remembered.  Equally encouraging was when I could see first-timers contemplating the questions and then offering up an opinion.

All the students went home happy.  Although some were disappointed not to score Rifleman, they were quick to acknowledge an improvement in their shooting.  Several first-time students are talking about returning to this location in October for an Appleseed and bringing friends!

The host club (as always) was very helpful.  They not only reserve the range and adjust the live fire time for us; they open the kitchen for lunch despite our small number.  Thanks!
