Another great Appleseed at the Henry County Gun Club. Great facilities and ranges. The weather was comfortable Saturday but quickly reached hot on Sunday. The Air conditioned club house was a blessing!!
Twelve great Americans mustered on the line to learn/refine their marksmanship skills!! History was presented by JPL&Lesmore (in air conditioned comfort I might add)who did a fine job describing the events and sacrifices the founders made to bequeath to us the liberty we enjoy today!!
Saturday everyone made progress. Unfortunately the Rob's; Adrian, George and Scott and the Legg's; Anthony, Stephen and Valerie were not able to return Sunday. They had a great time and persisted.
Sunday dawned with six eager shooters ready to tackle the AQT grind! Michael and Scott were banging away with their AR's on the right side of the line and progressed through out the day. They learned why detachable sling swivels are a blessing! They didn't have them!! Bet they do for the next 'seed!!
Susan struggled through the day with a stiff trigger and iron sights on her AR with a .22 upper. She was a real trooper. Late afternoon she borrowed a Ruger 10-22 w/scope and did quite well. Ed did O.K. but was not satisfied with himself and persisted until afternoon and had to leave. The transitions were wearing him down (been there, done that)! He will be back! Peter made Rifleman with a score of 218 and Timmy made Rifleman with a score of 211, just barely missing a dunking a water!!!
dond our intrepid shoot Boss, took Timmy to the long range with his .22. He brought back a target that was the envy of all!! You mean you can accurately shoot a .22 that far????? Timmy proved it! Lots of come up's but yes you can! They were accompanied by Peter with his AR but unfortunately he experienced a stuck cartridge case that refused to be dislodged! Bummer!!!!
One of the highlights of the weekend was that Sarah, dond's wonderful wife, made a cake and also homemade peach ice cream!! Yumm-yumm!!
This was another great Puryear shoot.

Oh what a great weekend. Nothing could be better than spending a beautiful weekend with three outstanding AS instructors and a group of wonderful AS shooters. And speaking of our three outstanding instructors, they all proved their worth since all of them progressed through the ranks. Hornet41 became a SB.  ^:)^ LesMoore became a RH, passing her IPC perfectly and doing a great job on the line.  ^:)^ JPL advanced to IIT4, giving a fine presentation of history, and also doing a great job on the line.   ^:)^

While waiting for Peter to get his RM score I took Timmy to the 100 yard range and suggested that he try a 5 MOA come up. He immediately learned that if you could shoot 4 MOA at 25 meters, you could do the same at 100 yards. Then Timmy and Peter went to the 600 yard range and posted the large AS targets at 200 yards. With a little work Timmy was zeroed in with an additional 14 MOA come up on his 22 and put all his bullets in the black, then pinged all of his bullets on a steel IDPA target. We should have photographed his grin.

Moving on to 300 yards, Peter first shot at the steel target, hitting it a few times and narrowly missing it a few times with his AR, but then disaster struck, as hornet41 mentioned.  !@#)  !@#)  !@#)

But everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves and learned much.

It was unfortunate that the extended Rob's family could not return Sunday, but they had a previous commitment. This family included a grandmother, who was an Air Force veteran, who really enjoyed herself, and admitted that she learned things very well that day that she had failed to learn adequately in the service. She was a delight to talk with, as were all the rest of the family.
Rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add "within the limits of the law" because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the rights of the individual.  Thomas Jefferson

Well, I thought the weekend was great!!!  Thanks to all the shooters who attended.  We missed the family who could not return on Sunday, but was happy to see the other 6 shooters return, and to watch them persist and improve throughout the day.

One thing is for sure, you are able to meet lots of great people at an Appleseed shoot!!!

Great job to Timmy and Peter for scoring Rifleman!!!

Hope to see everyone back at a later shoot!
