Good weather graced the first day of the first outdoor Amarillo Appleseed of 2012.  Here's what it looked like Saturday morning:

And here's the demo for Natural Point of Aim.  A laser sight makes this so much easier to explain:

And we learned about Inches-Minutes-Clicks at the target line:

Heavy rain and hail Saturday night restricted driving on the outdoor range Sunday morning so we moved to the Indoor range to practice the skills learned on Saturday.

After lunch, and the discussion on bullet trajectory, wind, and target detection, it was back to the AQT grind.  Things peaked about 2:30 when Rhett shot a 219 earning his Rifleman patch.

We moved back outside, under the 100 yard canopy for the full distance portion of the Appleseed and confirmed that Inches-Minutes-Clicks works as good at 100 yards as it does at 25.  Participants were given the opportunity to shoot a Garand, 1903A1 and 1903A3 Springfields, an M1 Carbine, and an AR M4 clone and learned the skills they developed with the 22's work just as well with the centerfire rifles.  (The shooting jackets were borrowed from the Club - they're really a help with the 1903s' steel butt plates.)

Returning youth Gus earned his Patriot patch with his persistance and his cheerful attitude.  Keep dry-firing Gus - you'll get there!
