36 shooters on Saturday and 25 on Sunday at this first 2012 shoot at Chaplin produced 5 new Riflemen and produced better shooters in CT!

How the days played out:

Day 1:

We began with the Safety Briefing then a red coat.  Then we jumped right into teaching how to build a solid prone position and sling usage. Forging ahead we continued with the 6 Steps, Steady Hold Factors, NPOA, Ball and Dummy and IMC, with each spaced in between sighter groups. TominCT & vernic82 did a fine job on their POI's.  During lunch vernic82 gave us the First Strikes and then we started the afternoon with standing and sitting positions and safe transitions.  Then went into talking targets, The Rifleman's Dance,  a trigger drill and a cadence drill as well as a few more sighter groups.  After which we posted 1 AQT in the afternoon, which produced 2 Riflemen a full day indeed!  The day ended with us cleaning up & hearing TominCT deliver the Second & Third Strikes followed by The Benediction with a reminder to all to stretch, take a hot bath and some Ibuprofen when they get home and to bring another person to their next Appleseed.

Day 2:

We began with the Safety Briefing then a red coat.  Cortjestir & CaptMac reiterated the Lessons Learned on Day 1 to the Day 2 folks - all of whom had attended earlier CT Appleseeds.  We tuned up with a few sighter groups, then worked on time drills to shake the rust off.  During Lunch CaptMac walked us through DOM and then right into KD.  The remainder of the afternoon saw the RFAQT Grind - which produced 3 more Rifleman this past weekend!

Some highlights:

Perennial Appleseeder Derrick F., an Adaptive Appleseeder getting his Rifleman Patch with a score of 210 - all in the Standing Position!

First time Appleseeders & husband & wife team Kasey M. & Jeremy M. firing a 211 & 215!

Bill R., another first timer and Board member at another Club who's working on getting a future Appleseed there, shooting back to back scores of 221/220!

Brad L. knocking out a 211 on an RFAQT!

5 Riflemen Opportunity Cards/Memberships Sold!

This was a great shoot! A lot of new shooters with some repeat offenders made this a very rewarding Appleseed.

Basically a full line Saturday and 80% plus Sunday. A very attentive and safe group that took instruction well. Many families were represented with several junior shooters. This is what makes it all worthwhile!

Many thanks to those who attended and the IT crew that made it happen. They all are the best!

Now, a few pics would be nice....

Thanks to all for the great time, it is always a great weekend at an Appleseed. Thanks especially to the all of the instructors that have helped me to score that 210 this past time, I'll be back to pull it higher.

I've seen Derick shoot an AQT, entirely unsupported offhand AND score above 170.  He can shoot.

This was a fun and safe event.  Events like this are what keep me coming back.
