What a weekend!

This by far had to be one of the most difficult shoots I have had weather wise.  :o However our shooters persisted and pushed through the cold deluge of rain, the constant intermittent wind driven rain after that, and the ankle deep mud and water that seemed to appear at the target line. All of that was just Saturday! On Sunday we made sure to keep the staple manufacturers in buisness with wind gusts up to 45mph, but at least the sun paid us a visit.

Other than the weather we were blessed with most gracious hosts and a beautiful facility. If it was taking shelter during lunch in the clubs basement range, or listening to history in the main meeting area we were so glad that Meeker Sportsman's Club was willing to host us this weekend. One of the clubs own even re-qualified as a rifleman with a score of 241.  :--- It was also great to have available the 400 yard range to close out the weekend for those who stayed to do some known distance on an unsuspecting 20" piece of steel.  >:D

I want to say thanks again to everyone who came out.  To Seth our, most definitely not a wimp, youth who stuck it out both days through all the weather, and shot the whole weekend right next to the adults. You give me hope for our future. We also happened to find among us a man who knows well what he is about and congratulations to Amos for his rifleman's score of 229! Don't forget that is a 229 shot in a wind of 20+ gusting to over 40.

Thank you to everyone from the shooters in the dirt to our youngest IIT PinkE you all made it a great weekend.

Great weekend it was! I finally found out why I was getting 4in. shot groups Sunday. I had a loose barrel on my Savage and now have to figure out how to fix it. Although we had those 45+ mile an hour wind gusts I still placed quite a few rounds on that 20" steel standing even. What fun! Thanks to all those who made it possible! And by the Way Dry Fire forgot to mention that it was his birthday weekend and that wonderful General Heath Ring of Fire cake!

Thanks to DryFire and the rest of the crew for putting on a great event. I heard nothing but positive comments from the other club members who were on the grounds! Hopefully we will have a little more grass and a little less mud, wind and rain when the September shoot rolls around! If anyone has any pics I could "borrow" and post on Meeker's website, that would be awesome! Thanks again and hope to see you all in September!

I'm glad you're hearing good things from the club members.  You folks were certainly gracious in allowing us to utilize the wonderful facilities, and allowing us some shelter during the rain and wind.

The grounds were beautiful, even in the rain.  I'm anxious to return in September.

Here are the only 2 pics I took. 


DryFire said I hit it a couple times, so at least 2 of those shiny 30 cal spots should be from me with my mosin.
I hit something at ~385 yards that I was aiming at.
I learned a lot over the weekend, and the funnest part was the steel plate.
Hopefully the weather will be better come September.

Truly brought tears to my eyes when I read it.  Reinforced a number of point Dry Fire made during the history portion of the weekend.
