Location Specific: Putnam County Gun Club (PCGC)

After siglite and myself did a preliminary site inspection last year, and continued follow up work by siglite, we will now have this beautiful club as part of our WV Appleseed itinerary.  

The inaugural shoot for this new location is scheduled for Aug. 28, 2010. We will be starting out with a shooter capacity of 10 15, but the club is in the process of expanding range capabilities, so that number will increase in the future. If we all do our part on promotions for this first shoot, a "sell out" is very possible.

Ratchett, I submitted everything to get it scheduled from my end...the ladies are working on it now. I would recommend just keep checking the schedule and it should show up soon.

That would be great if you and/or your family could make it. It's a really nice facility to attend an AS at.

When this makes it onto the schedule, and shooters can register, can someone please let me know ASAP.  I need to notify the President of PCGC.  He is already highly dedicated to 7th stepping for Appleseed.  He is chomping at the bit to begin promoting this event for us.  I need to make sure he's aware the instant people can register.

I don't know if I've mentioned this.  But we have a powerful ally in that club.  He mentioned to me that he has already directed the club's XO to prepare for no less than FOUR Appleseed events at this club next year.

The iron is hot.  We need to strike.

Hmmmm... Any chance of setting the capacity to 21?  That's a nice number to sell-out at.

Even though it isn't on the schedule yet, the date is set.  That gives plenty of time for all sorts of Appleseed Celebrities to clear their calenders and come help us christen this strategic location.

Siglite is correct on the shooter capacity, I just changed it in my first post. You would think I should know these things, since I put the EIP together...to much number crunching lately.

Why was the Hampton Inn in Teays Valley < 10 miles away not listed with the information?  Granted, I wouldn't suggest anyone stays at the Days Inn or Red Roof in, but the Hampton is new and very nice.  There's also plenty of places to eat/buy supplies near by.  It's address is Hurricane, but it's not in Hurricane (the reason for that is ridiculous, Hurricane annexed half of the unincorporated Teays Valley for the ability to write speeding tickets...seriously).

Siglite is correct... PCGC really is looking forward to this event. We are in the process of getting a bunch of earth moving done at the range, and it isn't "beautiful" right now, but the 25M range is pretty much mudfree and has covered shooting positions for 20....errr 21. The last guy wont be covered LOL. I am personally building a LTR as we speak and will have it sighted in before the shoot.

I like the emphasis on youth and women trainees. I predict AS will flourish in Putnam County. I will post driving directions in the near future. The easiest way to the range is blocked by bridge repairs that are pronised to be complete in late August.... we will see.

We need to start getting the word out about this upcoming shoot so we can fill the firing line. If we can pull off a "sell out" on this one, it would be a WV AS first, and what a way to kick off an inaugural shoot!

I downloaded AS flyer from forum post above and printed a few for PCGC meeting last night. Had huge turnout due to email blast I started this month. Talked abt AS more than club bidness LOL. Got lots of interest and 2 emails this morning about 1022 mods... I think the youth program guy may bring a few kids also. Question: Women and kids do the online reg also, and it comes up $0.00 correct?

Somebody please keep me informed as to the # registered so I can adjust my promotion as needed.

We get our pre-reg numbers updated about once a week, usually Tuesday nights.
Yes, Women & kids can register online, and it is indeed a whopping $0.00!

Never wanting to hold a motivated volunteer back, I sent in a request to Appleseed Eastern today. Let's give it another day or two, then if "no joy", I'll take it up a notch.

I went to PCGC last evening to look around and sight in a NEW LTR....

I have decided to make the new "Liberty Range" 50M long and 25M wide. It should accomodate 20 AS shooters easily, and have next-to-range parking. Eventually we will even have covered shooting positions, but only sky for now. We can plant pipes at the 25M point to facilitate target stands.

The grand opening of the Liberty Range will be April 16-17, 2011... go ahead and book it!

Back to the LTR... had FTF on all 5 mags with Federal high dollar ammo... CCI mini mags fed better.
Guess there is a breaking in period for the non existent feed ramp. I did buy the 1022 performance eBook.
Some good stuff in there. Oh Keith, I have 2 1022's now.... this is not the one we worked on... still no bullets thru it yet.

Well, there's one April 19th venue.  I assume Stinson will be on the schedule, and probably Beckley. As it should be with Appleseed, April 16/17 next year should be quite busy.
